Funny

In answer to Sarah's question on my last post, no, I do not make my own granola. My husband makes it. He is mixing up a batch as I type this. This is the conversation I just overheard between Gavin and Chris.

Chris: Oops, I just made a big mess. You're Mom loves when I make messes.
Gavin: Yep, cause it gives her something to do. (Actually serious when he said this!)

Chris is a great cook but he does make quite the mess in the process! I've tried to explain the concept of cleaning while you go but doesn't seem to have sunk in yet. Who knows what I would do with all that free time, if I didn't have Chris to clean up after.

Chris' mess making got me thinking: okay, so I was remembering what you were saying....and your right I haven't really brought over "treats" or bread in a zillion years.... I just have got way too lazy, and part of that is that there is no one here to clean up after my mess!

Side note: My poor mother, I never knew....the extent of under appreciation that went on growing up. I've only been a wife for 4 years! and I've only been a mom for 6 months!, and to only one kid! I'm pathetic.

Someday, when I win a billion dollars I'm hiring a maid, and personal chef :)

I will now refer you as Maid instead of Heather....

P.S. I'll make something this week to break the cycle.

So tell me what exactly is wrong with making a mess while cooking (especially baking) and leaving it? Except for the fact that YOU have to clean it up, of course. It's funny, I used to bake at my neighbors house, and when her husband would come home, he would instantly know I had been there baking. Dustin has also been known to ask "what did you do to my kitchen?"

I totally understand what you mean. Joe does the same thing and it drives me nuts.

Brett and Diane

If you get it figured out I'd love to know the secret. I'm still puzzled as to why Brett can put his dirty dishes in the sink but not in the dishwasher.

I love your blog!

So glad I'm not the only one. Although I must say I make a bigger mess than he does when I cook, My kitchen always looks like a bomb went off by the time dinner's ready. It always boggles my mind how long it takes to clean and how little time it takes to mess it up. Why is that?

BTW: Jacksen and Ashlyn have the same tastebuds. He is always asking for a "big glob of cheese" for a snack and begs for hot cocoa ALL the time. I think he too would be content on a diet consisting of hot cocoa and cheese. And just so you know your child is not the only one who has gotten the hot cocoa and run off sneakily to consume it staight out of the container. This continued for a while but I think he has finally grown out of it. I used to find hot cocoa powder messes in the most unusual places--and him covered in chocolate.

ha ha ha! that is so funny! come on, chris! clean up after yourself when you're in the kitchen! :) look at what your son is learning. :)

Too funny. Our kids put their dishes in the dishwasher at our neighbor's house, but not here. I ask them why and they said, "Because it's a rule at their house." ...Been thinking I might make that a rule here. :-)
