Gavin is 7!!!

Gavin had a great birthday today. He got Heely's, a skateboard, some Lego Star Wars kits and the new Legos Indiana Jones X box game. He was a happy boy! ( Ashlyn was green with envy though. She kept saying Ashlyn's birthday and going off in a huff to sulk. ) At our house birthday boys/girls are king/queen for the day, so Gavin took full advantage and breakfasted on Oreos. Dad & Mom combined two of his favorite things, Oreos and cheese pie to make him a yummy desert for his special day. He is looking forward to having his party on Friday with all of his friends.

Ashyln's "loon"...

A few shots of Ashlyn and her balloon or as she says LOON! This balloon has provided hours of entertainment and delight for her. Oh, to be a child again and find delight in such simple things. It's funny though because she reminds us so much of Whitney in the things she likes. Whitney too went through a I love balloons phase around the same age.

Critters

The boys had lots of fun playing with the turtle Chris found this morning in the front yard. Of course, they wanted to keep him/her. Turtle tried to make a run for it when I came out to take pictures and he was moving pretty fast for a turtle! They took him to Parcourse Lake so he can roam free with all the other turtles. Which is a much better fate than the snake they captured the other day. He ended up skinned for his hide.

World's Best Brother!

I know I might be a little prejudiced but I truly believe Gavin is the world's best brother! This photo is a perfect example. Whitney asks him to rub her back all the time and he always does it. (They are watching TV in this shot, hence the glazed look to their eyes.) He always shares any candy or anything he has that his sisters want. When he would get to pick a prize out at school he would pick things out for his sisters. If its his turn to pick out where we eat he will pick the restaurant that Whitney wants to go to, even though it wouldn't be his first choice. Just a few examples of his unselfishness. He is a great example for all of us and I am so grateful that I get to be his Mom. Chris & I always say he is going to make some woman very happy someday!

Aloha Oe Nikki

It is a sad, sad day at the Weaver house. Our Nikkers is moving to Texas. She & Whitney have been BFF's for the last 2 years now. Chris & I like to refer to her as our adopted daughter and Ashlyn really thinks she is a part of the family. We are all going to miss her terribly. She is the cutest girl and literally like a ray of sunshine to have around. We don't like to say good-bye at our house though. We say Aloha Oe which is Hawaiian for until we meet again. Whitney has been crying all day. =( We miss her already.

This one's for you Mom!

I'm posting this just for you Mom. What do you think? Does she look bigger? You also get to see her without her ears all taped up!

Weaver Pet Waste Removers to the Rescue!

Tired of cleaning up your pooch's poop? Have you ever thought if only I could find someone else to take care of this unsavory chore? Well no need to fret. Help is at hand! Just call on Weaver Pet Waste Removers. For $30 a month Whitney & Gavin will come to your house twice a week and clean up your dog's poop. (Supervised by their Dad.) Not only will you save yourself the bother you will help children learn the value of hard work and enterprise!

Whitney has been inspired by Jeanette Jenne who told her she bought her first horse when she was 12 by babysitting for .50 cents an hour. The horse cost $200.00. That's a lot of babysitting! Nowadays there is not much of a job market for 9 year olds, so Chris came up with this idea. They currently have one client and are looking to expand. =) If you're interested give us a call. And if you know anyone who might be interested spread the word. They are also open to dog sitting or dog walking.

Thanks a lot Dr. Howell!

On Monday the kids & I went in for a biannual dental cleanings and check ups. I'm proud to report that we are all cavity free. Though Whitney was pretty traumitzied because she had to have two baby teeth pulled to make way for her permanent teeth. She had to have 4 shots in her mouth to numb everything up. She was not a happy camper. This was her first experience with the dark side of the dentist. Up until now she actually loved going to the dentist. But she did loose 3 teeth in about a weeks time so she was really raking in the tooth fairy money! She has been telling everyone she meets "I had to have four shots in my mouth"! The dentist visit always ends with the kids getting to pick a treat from the prize basket. The kids picked this little recorder type insturment. Now I ask you what sick, sadistic person down there had the bright idea to put RECORDERS in the kids prize basket?!? I'm thinking about taking all 3 kids back down there just to sit in thier waiting room and let them enjoy the "music". It's either that or confiscate all thier recorders as a service to parents everywhere.

Ashlyn's love affair with "pockles"...

In Ashlynese pockles are popsicles. Oh, how she loves them! Last night Chris decided to see just how many she would eat at once. Drum roll please...the answer would be 9! Yes, 9! And three of those were twin pops the other 6 were singles. Anyone know of any popsicle eating contests we could enter her in? I hate to see such talent go to waste. =)

4th of July

Gavin loved his 4th of July shirt this year. (Last years was a striped polo in red, white & blue.)
He told me several times! Think he's trying to give me direction for next year's shirt?

Whit is proud to be an American!

Ashlyn was scared of the fireworks. She buried her face in Chris's chest and somehow managed to go to sleep. Though I don't know how with all the noise!

We had a great 4th of July. Great food, good friends and awesome fireworks!

Gavin's archeological find...

Today Chris took Whitney and Gavin exploring in the woods behind our house. They discovered a stream and had fun playing in it. Gavin was beyond thrilled to find an Indian spearhead! He is so pleased with himself for spying this treasure. He is always bringing home odds and ends that he finds. Like a gumball machine ring he found on the playground and regifts to me. =) Or for awhile when he was around 3 he'd always pick up beer bottle caps and want to keep them. His Dad was almost as excited as he was.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
