Ashyln's "loon"...
A few shots of Ashlyn and her balloon or as she says LOON! This balloon has provided hours of entertainment and delight for her. Oh, to be a child again and find delight in such simple things. It's funny though because she reminds us so much of Whitney in the things she likes. Whitney too went through a I love balloons phase around the same age.

Critters
The boys had lots of fun playing with the turtle Chris found this morning in the front yard. Of course, they wanted to keep him/her. Turtle tried to make a run for it when I came out to take pictures and he was moving pretty fast for a turtle! They took him to Parcourse Lake so he can roam free with all the other turtles. Which is a much better fate than the snake they captured the other day. He ended up skinned for his hide.

World's Best Brother!
I know I might be a little prejudiced but I truly believe Gavin is the world's best brother! This photo is a perfect example. Whitney asks him to rub her back all the time and he always does it. (They are watching TV in this shot, hence the glazed look to their eyes.) He always shares any candy or anything he has that his sisters want. When he would get to pick a prize out at school he would pick things out for his sisters. If its his turn to pick out where we eat he will pick the restaurant that Whitney wants to go to, even though it wouldn't be his first choice. Just a few examples of his unselfishness. He is a great example for all of us and I am so grateful that I get to be his Mom. Chris & I always say he is going to make some woman very happy someday!

Weaver Pet Waste Removers to the Rescue!
Whitney has been inspired by Jeanette Jenne who told her she bought her first horse when she was 12 by babysitting for .50 cents an hour. The horse cost $200.00. That's a lot of babysitting! Nowadays there is not much of a job market for 9 year olds, so Chris came up with this idea. They currently have one client and are looking to expand. =) If you're interested give us a call. And if you know anyone who might be interested spread the word. They are also open to dog sitting or dog walking.

Ashlyn's love affair with "pockles"...
In Ashlynese pockles are popsicles. Oh, how she loves them! Last night Chris decided to see just how many she would eat at once. Drum roll please...the answer would be 9! Yes, 9! And three of those were twin pops the other 6 were singles. Anyone know of any popsicle eating contests we could enter her in? I hate to see such talent go to waste. =)

4th of July
He told me several times! Think he's trying to give me direction for next year's shirt?
Ashlyn was scared of the fireworks. She buried her face in Chris's chest and somehow managed to go to sleep. Though I don't know how with all the noise!

Gavin's archeological find...
Today Chris took Whitney and Gavin exploring in the woods behind our house. They discovered a stream and had fun playing in it. Gavin was beyond thrilled to find an Indian spearhead! He is so pleased with himself for spying this treasure. He is always bringing home odds and ends that he finds. Like a gumball machine ring he found on the playground and regifts to me. =) Or for awhile when he was around 3 he'd always pick up beer bottle caps and want to keep them. His Dad was almost as excited as he was.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
