Time in Vernal

I have fallen way behind on my blogging.  My last post was in May it is now July!  I am feeling very overwhelmed.  June was our month of vacation and travel time.  I was so sad to see that I fell way short on my job as family photographer.  I did not take nearly the number of photos I usually do.  We started out in Vernal where we had a very special event to attend...

Amy's baptism!!! Amy is married to Chris's youngest brother, Spencer.  Chris was so honored when she asked him to baptize her.  I blubbered my way through a talk on baptism. While Whitney played the piano.  She was a little nervous as she has never accompanied singing before but she and Aunt Brenda (who was the chorister) got in a little practice beforehand.  A few hours before the baptism we had a little crisis when Landon split open his bottom lip at the park while we were crashing a family reunion of Uncle Dan's.  Chris had been helping his grandmother that morning and had already gotten showered and dressed for the big event.  We decided he would take Landon to the ER while I got the rest of the family ready for the baptism.  He ended up getting 2 stitches and amazing the hospital personnel with this superhuman strength by busting out of the papoose board.  They said they'd never had a kid do that before.  Chris was so proud!!!

Spencer's cute family!  He now holds the title for most kids among the Weaver siblings.
Left to right: the two elders who taught Amy the discussions, Amy holding Alysha, Spencer holding Tyson.  Front row: Bryton, Jaden and Wyatt.

Ashlyn could not get enough of her newest girl cousin, Alysha.  She tried her best to talk Amy into letting us have her but after I explained that Alysha was Amy's only little girl she finally relented...a little.  Landon was also a big fan of the babies.  The twins had an early arrival in April so they are still itty bitty.

Aunt Brenda and Uncle Dan are adding an addition to their home. Kole and Gavin had great fun shoveling the dirt around the construction sight. Landon also had the highlight of his young life when Chris's cousin Greg took him for a ride in a backhoe. I so wished I'd had my camera.

Landon was Uncle Dan's shadow/best buddy while we were in Vernal.  He went on countless Honda rides where he would gleefully point out every horse, cow and tractor!  He knew where the Honda key was and would try to get it himself in the hopes of going out for a little spin. Landon hardly ate while we were in Vernal and existed on Aunt Brenda's chocolate lasses cookies.  When he wasn't going for Honda rides he was in the backyard playing on the swing set, digging in the sandbox and enjoying their beautiful yard.  He also burnt his hand on a still warm clothes iron and almost strangulated himself with Chris's bag full of protein powder and supplements.  Easily around 25 pounds.  We had tried to put him down for a nap when Chris went to check on him he was climbing the drawers of a dresser but somehow had the strap of the duffel bag around his neck.  Seriously worry about this kid making it to adulthood.  His guardian angel is definitely working overtime!

Ashlyn snuggling Alysha.  Poor Ashlyn was just beside herself with longing and envy.

Splishing and splashing in the backyard.

Whitney with Tyson and Joie with Alysha.  The two newest members of the clan were in great demand!

Joie, Bryton, Ashlyn, Gavin & Landon
Gavin got to learn how to drive the Honda and thought he was pretty big stuff!  I think we could have left both the boys and they would have been happy as could be!

Carsten and Gavin were great buddies while we were there.  Gavin wants to move to Vernal where there are boys galore and outdoors adventures to be had at all times.

I got a few pictures of the kids while they were here if you want them. We're so glad you could come see all of us. And to have Chris baptize Amy was one of the most special things that have happened to this family. Spencer talks a lot about how glad he is that he and Chris have gotten so much closer to each other. And I know Nick is smiling down at both of them.

Looks like a great vacation! How fun to be so close to so much family!

I was looking through this and thinking Vernal is one of the many summer things I missed blogging...probably b/c I had surgery the day after we got home. :-) I loved reading about it again though. It was fun.
